Boating
Learning the Basics
Our youngest campers start off learning all about our rowboats. Some of the lessons take place on land, such as knots, nomenclature, and seats in the boat. Once on the water, campers learn basic rowing skills including forward and backwards strokes as well as turns. They learn boating safety, learning to switch seats within a boat while on the water, all in the safety of Onaway's cove.

Boating 3rd Crescent
Campers aiming to achieve their 3rd crescent, the highest level of boating, master the rowboat on their own. They learn to dock a boat with accuracy, complete a timed paddle, and finally they learn to flip their boats and then right then and drain them.

Growing in Skill Level
As campers gain skills and confidence on the water, they learn to control their boats with more accuracy, maneuvering themselves around the floats. They are able to head out further into the lake and add to their list of skills in more challenging conditions.
