Canoeing
Learning the Basics
Canoeing instruction begins on the land with proper strokes, nomenclature, and canoe safety. Then, campers take to the lake in pairs, mastering strokes to go straight and strokes to turn the canoe. They learn to work together, allowing the canoeist in the stern to control the canoe while the bow brings on the power.

The White Chevrons
Campers who choose to become experts at the highest levels, perfect their strokes and dock landings, master timed ability courses, and become an expert in soloing a canoe. These campers learn to carry a canoe alone, how to drain it of water alone, and how to do every skill they could do with a partner, but now alone.

Growing in Skill Level
As they advance in their skill level, campers learn to rescue a swimmer, save a swamped canoe, and dock their canoe without hitting the dock. They also gain strength to go on longer canoe trips around the lake.
