Nature & Camping Skills

In nature classes, campers learn to observe their natural surroundings, appreciating and understanding them better. The woods and watery areas in which the girls live for 7 weeks is a perfect place for this. Additionally, each camp learns the craft of camping, making and tending to fires, setting up tents, camping and leaving no trace.

Advanced Trips

Staple advanced overnight trips include the 4-day backpacking trip in the White Mountains, the Senior Hiking Club staying in huts in the Presidentials, and the Advanced Canoe Trip traveling to Lake Umbagog in Maine and canoeing down the rapids of the Androscoggen River. These trips well prepare campers who want to follow their Skytops summer with a 3-week wilderness trip through our OWLEs program.

Into the Mountains

Each summer, every camper participates in the all-camp hike day and every cabin group participates in an over-night camping trip.  Additionally, in the middle of the camping season, each girl signs up for an extended trip. These range from backpacking trips to canoe trips with camping to basecamping with moderate hikes. Girls who want more advanced trips will have those opportunities.
