Campfire Rock Society
A Legacy Gift to Onaway
At some point in our lives we think about the gifts we will leave when we depart. We think about the people we love, the places that influenced us, the organizations we feel offer hope for the future.
We invite you to join the Campfire Rock Society – a group of individuals who have included Camp Onaway in their wills. You may be able to give a larger gift in this way than you would otherwise, gaining a reduction in the taxes imposed on your estate and leaving more for your heirs. There are other ways of supporting Onaway through a planned gift as well, such as donating assets from your qualified retirement plan, like your IRA or 401(k), or giving a life insurance policy that is no longer needed for its original purpose. We would be happy to discuss any of these options with you, as well as any special requests you may have for the eventual use of your gift. We would also appreciate the opportunity to thank you and send you a special gift designed for our Campfire Rock Society members.
Your bequest will help provide future generations of girls with the same experiences that inspired your Onaway memories: living in cozy cabins on the Onaway hillside, scaling the summits of the White Mountains, sharing a thought with friends in a tent or in a counselor’s cabin at Privilege, feeling an inner strength take root in the stillness of Chapel, singing on Campfire Rock and rising together to form evening circle at “the end of a perfect day.”
Your legacy gift is truly “a promise, a vow not to forget.”
We all die, but with a little luck and good stewardship, the institutions that help shape us, live on. Onaway is that institution for me. I was a camper in the sixties, and to this day, I treasure those simple summers of living in the woods and on the lake. I hope my bequest will help ensure that Onaway continues to thrive long after she receives my gift.
